Big News For AMPERE SERVER MICROCHIPS (July 2020)
From being an electronics background, we actually would come across many electronic chips and microprocessors amidst where we could only see Intel’s and AMD’s have upper hand in designing and producing powerful chips but that is beginning to change.
Because few weeks ago Jeff Wittich Senior Vice president of AMPERETM , ALTRATM has announced that the 80-core ARM-based with 64 bit Quick-silver server microchips are under production and also stated that they are planning to design a 128-core ARM server microchips which could be the first “CLOUD NATIVE” .where we could actually find some interesting features.
AMPERE HEADING UP FOR THE FIRST CL0UD NATIVE
- Socket compatible.
- High core density.
- Has predictable performance per core.
- Higher scalability.
- Good power efficiency.
- Micro architectural tweaks.
- Up to 7nm.
Wittich tells us that Ampere computing techies are trying to innovate a predictable performance ARM server chips so as to reduce the noisy neighbour performance as they could solve over workloads. We are familiar with the fact that the Ampere ARM server microchips function at a speed of 3GHz which prevents from multi-threading.
Whereas the AMD chips lag behind in this case because though they possess a good scalability factor due to this multi-threading effect they couldn’t give a full scale performance like maximum number of core expansion.
I am very excited because in this software development ecosystem good performance, efficiency and the core count of the ARM server chips plays a major role. In order to speed up the innovations in the ARM server chips regarding, Equinix Company is offering an Early Access Program for AMPERETM ,ALTRATM is available now.
From my point of view, ARM server chips have started to divulge as next-generation server processor design chips, spotlight performances in the hopes of cloud momentum. Well, suppose we take any android mobile on this planet it definitely uses a processor core which would be designed by ARM and built by companies like APPLE, Samsung and Qualcomm and so on.
Some of the product based companies like Amazon is trying to give tougher competition in building the server chips. One of the most fascinating things is that Amazon web services (AWS) have also been working effortlessly in order to set a benchmark in designing the ARM server chips. The former Vice president of Amazon web services Drew Henry stated that “we believe in the growths that indulge to happen in this infrastructure space”. But they couldn’t come up with the mesmerizing features like Quicksilver and Mystique which AMPERETM , ALTRATM possess.
