The Chinese smartphone giant OnePlus has rolled out its newest player in the global smartphone market. The new OnePlus 9RT 5G kept its foot in the Chinese market in the month of October last year. This piece marked its official entry in the Indian smartphone arena on 14th January, 2022. It will be available for the Indian buyers through Amazon as a part of Amazon’s Great Republic Day sale that started on 17 January.
The phone can be considered an improvement of the OnePlus 9R that was exclusively launched in India. 9RT has an improvement in the screen size as compared to that of 9R. There has been an upgrade in the processor of 9RT. OnePlus 9RT is considered to be a midrange premium smartphone and may face a tough competition from other pieces in the midrange premium category like Xiaomi Mi 11T Pro and Samsung S21 FE.

Price and Variants
There are two variants available for the new OnePlus 9RT.
The base 128GB/ 8GB variant is priced at INR 42999.
The other variant with 256 GB ROM and 12 GB RAM is priced at INR 46999.
The price of OnePlus 9RT is slightly higher than the other competitors like the Xiaomi Mi 11T Pro which starts at the base price of INR 39999. On the other hand Samsung S21 FE, the other competitor of the OnePlus 9RT, has a much higher price starting at INR 53,999.
The body frame is built of Aluminum. The screen and the rear panel are made up of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 giving it the toughness so that you can drop it on the floor every now and then (not really!). The curved metal edges make it very handy and also give it a sleek look. The rear panel looks really luxurious. It has a tray for two Nano-Sims.
The dimensions of the body are 162.2 x 74.6 x 8.3 mm. The phone will always keep reminding you of its presence in your pocket with a weight of 198.5 Grams.
Screen and display
The screen size is 6.62 inches with 87.9% screen-to-body ratio. The 9RT is equipped with AMOLED 120 Hertz HDR 10+ display. The HDR10+ display gives out 4000 nits of brightness so it will enable the user to easily see the screen display even in the bright sunlight. It has a resolution of 1080 X 2400 pixels that provides a FHD+ display that gives a realistic picture quality and immersive experience. The manufacturer claims about the presence of Hyper Touch 2.0 technology. The default touch response of the model is claimed to be at 300 Hz but it can be boosted up to 600 Hz while gaming.
Chipset and OS
The device is equipped with Quallcomm Snapdragon 888 Octa Core processor. The device has an Adreno 660 GPU.
The phone operates on Android 11 OS platform with a stable Android 12 update as soon as it is launched.
The model comes with triple camera setup on the rear side. The primary camera is of 50 megapixels with Sony IMX766 sensor with an aperture of f/1.8. The ultra-wide angle camera has a resolution of 16 megapixels equipped with Sony IMX481 sensor and an aperture of f/2.2.
The third camera is a macro shooter of 2 megapixels. The camera has PDAF technology for better focus. There is a dual-LED flash to light up your images during low light conditions.
The selfie camera has a resolution of 16 Megapixels with a Sony IMX471 sensor. The camera can be used on different modes like night mode, macro mode, scene enhancement, portrait mode, pro mode, panorama, video portrait, slow motion, dual-view, long exposure mode and movie Mode.
The rear camera can give out video quality of 4K@30/60fps and 1080p@30/60/240fps, Auto HDR, gyro-EIS (video stabilization done on the basis of gyroscopic readings), and the front camera gives out the video quality of 1080p@30fps, gyro-EIS.
The piece comes with Wi-Fi connectivity. The piece comes with Bluetooth 5.2 with Advanced Audio Distribution Profile that enables the phone to have good connectivity with Bluetooth enabled audio output devices and prevent sound lag.
It also has a GPS connectivity enabled with A-GPS, BDS, GLONASS, and GALILEO satellite systems. It also has NFC for data and file transfer. The USB has a Type-C 2.0 plug and USB On-the-Go technology.
The device is given a third antenna for better Wi-Fi connectivity. The manufacturer has named this feature as a Tri-eSport antenna system that provides faster and more stable internet connectivity from Wi-Fi while gaming.
The device is enabled with 5G internet connectivity compatible with 8 bands in India.
It has an in-display fingerprint sensor. It also has an accelerometer, Gyroscope, proximity sensor and compass.
There are two variants available with 8GB RAM and 128 GB internal storage and the other variant with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB internal storage. There is no slot for memory card available in this phone so the storage can’t be expanded.
The device has Dolby ATMOS stereo speakers. There is no audio jack available for connecting wired earphones.
Battery and power
The device has a powerful 4500 mAh Li-Po battery non-removable battery. The manufacturers claim that the phone can be fully charged within 29 minutes through the 65T warp charger. There is no feature of wireless charging for the device.
The device is available in two colors namely Hacker black and Nano silver.
Content in the box
The OnePlus 9RT comes in a reddish pink box with a red colored USB charging cable that is the signature of OnePlus. It carries the 65T warp charging adapter and a phone case. .
The device is said to be water proof but there is no IP rating available for it. The manufacturer claims it to be a gaming phone. It is also said to be enabled with liquid VC liquid cooling which prevents the phone from heating and overheating which maintains its fast performance.
OnePlus 9RT is a great buy in this price range with a tag of being a premium phone. The only threat to the popularity of this phone can be the other competitors in the market with a similar price range and slightly different features.
