“Pixel 4 series users facing issue with Face unlock preventing them from unlocking their phones.”
Pixel 4 users are having face unlock issues since last year. Errors like “Clean the top of your screen, including the blackbar” are being faced while unlocking. People are sharing their issues on Google’s Issue Tracker, Google’s product forum, Reddit and other platforms. This issue started bothering after the Android 11 update. Restarting the phone is only temporarily fixing the issue.
Some issues are fixed by software updates while other issues are yet to be fixed. One of the users has posted regarding the issue with face unlock on Pixel 4 XL on Google’s Issue Tracker back in May and there is still no fix even after few updates. Few users have started experiencing the issue from the Android 11 update, while others had this even before the update, and some others started having the issue after the November 2020 update.
Restarting the phone is only temporarily fixing the issue which gets back after some time, this has cause huge inconvenience with no fingerprint scanner on their devices. The issue was reportedly stated ‘fixed’ on the tracker while it isn’t still. The users shared their concerns on various platforms like XDA forums. The complaints are first noted by Android Police.
Back in October, last year users complained about the face unlock feature that the phones are unlocking even when the user is not looking at the screen. This issue was fixed by Google in December through a software update. And then in January Pixel 4 users started having issues again where the phones started not recognising the user’s face.
